
2025 Pacific GIS & Remote Sensing User Conference

The conference is the largest GIS and RS Conference in the Pacific with over 300 attendees from far reaches of the globe. The conference provides the platform where three types of participants meet and interact : very different Pacific Island GIS&RS users from Government administrations, utilities and private companies; scientists from Pacific and outside universities as well as well-known research institutes, regional organisations and space agencies; companies of the GIS and RS market providing hardware, software, image data and services.
The conference spans four days with over 60 presentations. Day 4 will feature the discussion session and Day 5 is reserved for workshops carried out by various experts in their respective geospatial field. Every evening, participants meets during social functions which give opportunities for the three groups of participants to meet and exchange ideas.

Discussion
The discussion session focuses on addressing application challenges in the Pacific and provides an opportunity for knowledge sharing and professional fellowship. It is held on Day 4.
Workshops
At the GIS&RS User Conference, workshops are conducted by well-known experts in the fields of geospatial technologies. In 2023, SPREP conducted a workshop, HEXAGON allowed hands on ERDAS experience and BLUECHAM instructed opertating the Qehnelo platform. NASA, UN-SPIDER and OSGEO run also well attended workshops.
Social Events
The social events promotes Fijian hospitality and a space for participants to network and interact between users, scientists, companies and between Pacific Islands users themselves. There is a social event each evening for participants to enjoy:

– Yaqona Night (Kava)
– Fijian Pub Crawl
– Closing Cocktail Night
– Talanoa Night
– The Sandbank Picnic
