Map and Poster Competition 2026
Strengthening and Expanding Geospatial Networks in the Pacific Islands
About the competition
The PGRSC Map & Poster Competition showcases GIS and Remote Sensing activities conducted by professionals and students across the Pacific.
Objective
The competition promotes communication and knowledge sharing, with particular emphasis on presenting information in a clear and accessible way to audiences with different technical backgrounds.
Eligibility
The competition includes two categories: Student and Professional. Participants may enter the category that corresponds to their current status and eligibility.
Submission requirements
- Contestants/Participants: Must be PGRSC Members and must be attending the 2026 Pacific Islands GIS and Remote Sensing User Conference in Suva, Fiji.
- Entries may be submitted as PDF, JPG or PNG.
- Recommended formats are A2 or A3.
- A resolution of 600 dpi is recommended for raster artwork.
- The entry should clearly identify its title, author and relevant contact or affiliation information.
- Participants are responsible for printing their posters and maps. Printed posters and maps may be displayed in the main lobby throughout the conference.
Judging
Eligible entries are assessed by the judges assigned to their category using the published competition criteria. Selected judges are PGRSC Members with relevant expertise and experience in GIS, remote sensing, mapping, or related fields, who are attending the conference in Fiji.
Awards
First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize are assigned in each competition category after the judging results have been reviewed and approved by the Conference Committee. The Committee may also award one or more Honourable Mentions.

By submitting an entry, the participant confirms that they are authorised to submit the work and permits PGRSC to display it in connection with the competition.
