Pascal CORREIA BARRETO

Surveyor-geomatician by training (Ingénieur Géomètre-Topographe, INSA Strasbourg, 1999; Postgraduate Diploma in Geomatics, University of Salford, UK), managing marine and coastal resources across French Polynesia and leading multidisciplinary technical teams.

My core expertise spans hydrography and cartography (multibeam echosounder, GNSS, drone survey, ArcGIS, FME, HYPACK, Pix4D) and the geospatial administration of the maritime public domain. At the DRM I manage pearl-farming concessions under the 2017 pearl-industry legislation, run field-control operations, and lead the modernization of the service’s GIS.

Earlier, as head of the Topography section (Urbanism Service), I directed French Polynesia’s cartographic production: deploying Aveia, the territory’s first permanent GNSS network for centimetric real-time positioning; building the first Tahiti–Moorea geoid model; and opening public cartographic data (OpenStreetMap, Geographic Information Committee).

Current work: migrating the DRM’s proprietary GIS stack toward an open-source QGIS/PostGIS architecture, and acting as DRM referent on the CNES / Space Climate Observatory TAHATAI project for satellite monitoring of lagoon activity.
